a creative challenge

The iCentre and the AITI (Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry) are keen to promote the development of creativity in digital media and multi-media. They have presented a challenge to discover who among the Brunei community are potential scriptwriters and storyboard creators. Creative souls up for the challenge can submit an original script or storyboard about Bruneian Folklore before the 4th of June 2012.  The content may be in Bahasa Melayu or English and should have relevance to the Bruneian folklore theme, either depicting the legends, myths, history of Brunei, or the cultural values or places of interests of the country.

The challenge is an extension of the 'AITI Next Innovation and Multimedia Award for Sustainable ICT Industry (ANIMASI) Challenge' to promote and develop the ICT industry in the country primarily in the field of multimedia and digital media; and part of the iCentre's 'Think Big Immerse Challenge' - to identify and showcase local creative talents.

The iCentre presented an Open Stage Day on Friday 13th of April to commemorate it's 4th anniversary and introduce the creative programme at the same time. The half day event provided a glimpse of the various artistic elements required for an elaborate multimedia production - visual arts  to create the background, music to punctuate the scenes and prose to give the characters a voice. The event showcased violin and guitar instrumental performances by 2 young musicians, a screening of a number of locally produced short films, a lively poetry reading and several interviews with members from the local music, film and art scene to give an insight into their field of work. A mini exhibition of WPAP pop art posters was introduced by one of the founding members of Designer's Alliance Brunei (DAB), Syen Sofian. WPAP (Wedha's Pop Art Portrait) is a relatively new graphic art style popularised by Wedha Abdul Rasyid from Indonesia and it's now gathering a following among designers in Brunei.
