The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Embassy and the British High Commission of Brunei Darussalam are jointly presenting a concert by an a cappella group from Germany to celebrate Europe Day 2012. This is a closed event to be held at the Jerudong International School auditorium on 12th May 2012.
The SLIXS, formerly known as Stousxingers, comprises 6 vocal members from Germany who together form a jazz ensemble using only their voices. Their a cappella style brings a blend of singing, whispering, humming, and various clicking and popping sounds in a complex arrangement producing brilliant presentations that are musical, artistic and theatrical. The way they use vocal sounds to recreate instrumental accompaniments is effortless and natural, and results in a harmonious and sometimes amusing symphonic composition.
SLIXS won the CARA Award for Best Jazz Song in 2008 and the Ward-Swingle Award in 2006. They will be performing French, German and English songs during the concert for Europe Day 2012.
Europe Day is an annual celebration of peace and unity in Europe. It is an opportunity for European Union member countries to celebrate the EU's achievements and to reflect on its aims: peace, freedom, prosperity and working together.
