the apple of our eyes

We are all abuzz at the office about the introduction of the latest iPhone 4S from Apple.  The new iPhone doesn't just come with slight tweaks and updates above the the older version, it is leaps and bounds more intelligent, faster and comes with an assistant that you can talk to - Siri. Now that is the ultimate game changer. If you have never owned an iPhone, now is the time to board the smartphone starship and experience the most amazing ride with the iPhone 4S.

Siri on iPhone 4S lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, make phone calls and more. Ask Siri to do things just by talking the way you talk. Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean and even talks back. Talk to Siri as you would to a person. Say something like “Remind me to call the vet” or “Do I need an umbrella?” And Siri answers you. It does what you say and finds the information you need.

Siri not only understands what you say, it’s smart enough to know what you mean. So when you say “Meet Andrew for coffee at 4 o'clock today”, Siri will reply “All right, the meeting with Andrew is on your calendar for today”. Then you can say “Remind me to call him as soon as I get to the office”. Siri remembers that you were just talking about Andrew, so it can set the right reminder. And Siri is proactive, so it will question you until it finds what you’re looking for.  Ask Siri to text your dad, remind you to call the dentist or send an email, and it works out which apps to use and who you’re talking about. From the details in your contacts, it knows your friends, family, boss and co-workers.

When there’s something you need to do, you can ask Siri to help you do it.
It uses almost all the built-in apps on iPhone 4S to find the information you need. Siri writes and sends email messages and texts — and reads them to you too. It searches the web for anything and everything you need to know. It plays the songs you want to hear. It makes calls. It schedules meetings. It helps you remember.

Ok, so that is just about the lovely assistant, Siri.  What else can you expect from the new iPhone 4S?

It has a dual-core A5 chip, the most powerful iPhone processor ever.  The two cores in the A5 chip deliver up to two times more power and up to seven times faster graphics, making the iPhone 4S quick and responsive, which makes all the difference when you're launching apps, browsing the web and gaming.  And because the A5 chip is so power-efficient, the iPhone has excellent battery life.

The iPhone 4S has probably the best camera ever built into a phone. It has brand new optics, 8-megapixel resolution and a custom lens with a larger f/2.4 aperture, improved backside illumination sensor, excellent auto white balance, advanced colour accuracy, face detection and reduced motion blur - what all this means is unbelievably great photos, no matter what the conditions are.

The iPhone 4S' video performance has also been given a mighty boost with the new-optics, advanced backside illumination, a larger aperture to let in more light and video stabilisation feature, so you can take fantastic 1080HD videos at 30 frames per second. It's improved auto white balance makes colour even more vivid while temporal noise reduction helps you take great videos in low light. It's even easy to edit your videos on your iPhone.  Just drag to select start and end points on a filmstrip to trim your clips, so you can make your mini-blockbuster movie or MTV music video look like it's made with a million-dollars.

The iPhone 4S uses the iOS 5 - it's the most advanced mobile operating system that is fast with rock solid stability. It brings over 200 new features to the iPhone 4S and offers the world's largest collection of mobile apps, practically thousands of apps in any category imaginable. Storage of all your music, photos, apps, mail, contacts, calendars and documents is in the iCloud, which also manages all of them for you. It's all stored wirelessly, effortlessly and seamlessly so you can retrieve them from any of your Apple devices, anytime, anywhere.

The Retina display is the highest-resolution screen ever.  The pixel density is so high that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels, so you will see everything in stunningly clear and sharp mode.  Their FaceTime lets you hear a voice and see the face that belongs to it - iPhone to iPhone, iPad2, iPod touch or Mac over Wi-Fi. And it’s even easier with Siri. Just tell Siri “FaceTime with mum” and you show up to say hello, just like that.

With AirPlay, you can wirelessly stream what’s on your iPhone to your HDTV and speakers via Apple TV. With AirPlay Mirroring, whatever you see and do on your iPhone appears on your HDTV at the same time. You can print your email, photos, web pages and documents straight from your iPhone over Wi-Fi.

iPhone 4S is the first phone to intelligently switch between two antennas to transmit and receive, so call quality is better. It also doubles the maximum HSDPA data speeds to 14.4 Mbps. Which means faster connections, faster loading and reloading, and faster downloads. And iPhone 4S is a world phone, so you can use it almost anywhere. Whether you’re a GSM or CDMA customer, you can roam GSM networks in 200 countries around the world.

So that's it. You can do everything from making connections with people, taking photos and videos, organise your life or play games, movies and music, just do it faster and better; and for some things, you can even get Siri to help you to do it.
