sole mate

a woman's sole mate
Women all over the world know his name. And he knows women's feet well.  We women just love the men who give us sole satisfaction. Christian Louboutin, the demi-god of the art of feet-dressing, has launched his first book featuring his most iconic styles with photos from his personal archives as well as an insight into his influences on the shoe industry.  The designer recently talked to Vogue about his book.

The book is divided into six chapters. It begins with Louboutin's biography, noting his early work for Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent. The second and third chapters look at the various interiors of the label's international stores and the 20 years of Louboutin's designs. The fourth chapter features intimate photographs of his Paris and Egypt homes while the last two chapters explore the designer's collaboration with prestigious director David Lynch.

The designer himself made sure the photographs of his shoes over the 20 years of his career were captured beautifully and the choice of photographer was crucial as he did not want just anybody who will "photograph them in a seasonal way as a book has a much longer life than a magazine". His favourite models and friends, such as Dita Von Teese, Kristen Scott Thomas and Mika, have all made a contribution to his book.
