sid dickens blocks of memory

If you are looking for something other than paintings to dress up your walls, take a chance on Memory Blocks by Sid Dickens. These plaster tiles are all individually handmade with unique images that you can choose to make up a larger wall-piece that allows you to visually share the stories that define you, and reflect your personality and feelings.

Sid Dickens Memory Blocks are hand crafted plaster works of art, finished to a porcelain-like quality and cracked to create an aged look and feel. The blocks are 6" x 8" x 1 1/4", hand-poured hydrostone plaster. All tiles are hand-painted (the Iron Series requires 3 coats) and hand-stained. Silver and gold leafing is done by hand. Sid Dickens' work is produced by a group of 30 young emerging artists in a studio space in Vancouver, Canada. Each piece requires more than 5 people to work on and the finished product is uniquely individual. The artistry and hours required to create each piece makes it a collectible treasure.

Putting up a Memory Block is very simple.  You don't need framing or professional installation. Each block is finished with an angled aperture.  All you need to do is position a small tack, screw or nail in the wall and hang the tile. Additional supports, braces or mounts are not necessary.

Memory blocks look fantastic in wall-mounted groupings. Although they are often associated with traditional and opulent settings, they can be used in minimalist modern rooms with a stunningly contrasting effect. It adds depth and soul to an otherwise clinical environment. The size of groupings is up to you.  You can start with a single tile and grow the collection according to your budget.  You can create many different arrangements and shapes, and change them according to your mood. You can also prop up the blocks on an easel and place them on the table or bookshelf. Start a project collecting these blocks and add to it over the years and you will end up with a fine conversation collection that gets your visitors buzzing.

In Brunei, Sid Dickens Memory Blocks are available at Home Accent Interiors in Kiarong, Bandar Seri Begawan.
